
Delhi, has joined Yashoda Medicity as the Head of its Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. Ranked among the top two percent of doctors globally by Stanford University, Dr. Sharma brings over four decades of clinical, academic, and research excellence to the institution.
With an impressive academic portfolio that includes over 450 publications—200 of which have appeared in leading international and national journals, including The Lancet—Dr. Sharma has contributed extensively to advancing women's health. His clinical expertise includes performing complex uro-gynaecological and vaginal surgeries, and his leadership will play a vital role in enhancing patient care at Yashoda Medicity.
Dr. Sharma’s medical journey spans prestigious institutions in India and abroad. He previously served as Professor and Unit Head at AIIMS, New Delhi, and received advanced training from world-renowned hospitals in London, including St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, Homerton Hospital, and Whipps Cross Hospital.
He has led research collaborations with Oxford University, ICMR, DST, and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. His accolades include the Dr. B.C. Roy Award for Research (2015), Dr. Labhsetwar Award (2016) for pioneering work on genital tuberculosis, and numerous recognitions from FOGSI and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Dr. Sharma is also known for authoring widely read textbooks, including Textbook of Obstetrics, Textbook of Gynecology, and Textbook of Midwifery and Gynecological Nursing, extensively used in India and Southeast Asia. As Editor-in-Chief of Indian Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Journal of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, his influence spans academia and clinical education. His contributions also include the discovery of Sharma’s signs in female genital tuberculosis, along with innovative surgical techniques and instruments that bear his name.
