Dr. Pradeep K. Dewan is a distinguished medical professional and one of the pioneers in the field of laparoscopic surgery, with over forty years of experience in Surgery. He began his laparoscopic journey in 1992 and, since then, has performed approximately 40,000 laparoscopic procedures, ranging from basic and advanced to robotic surgeries. He has also conducted numerous live workshops across various cities in India. Dr. Dewan has been an active faculty member at several national and international conferences and workshops. A firm believer that hard work always pays off, he is often described as a workaholic. Along with his MBBS, MD, and MS qualifications, he has worked at several prestigious institutions in India and abroad. He has trained and mentored many surgeons in keyhole surgery through mentoring, proctoring, and regularly conducting PACE programmes. His special interests include bariatric surgery, gallbladder surgery, and hernia repair.

He had previously consulted multiple surgeons for a routine laparoscopic cholecystectomy but was declined due to a large laparotomy scar from a prior splenectomy and the presence of portal hypertension.
After careful evaluation, a completely laparoscopic approach was planned despite the surgical challenges. The procedure was performed with precision, successfully navigating the complexities associated with prior surgery and altered anatomy.
The surgery was completed successfully, and the patient had an excellent postoperative recovery. He was discharged in a stable condition on Day 2 following the procedure.
